wow, my boy is playing some creepy shoot em up game with kooky flying serpents that fly out of bodies after you shoot them- then you need to shoot up the serpents..hmm, weird …good thing he’s 19… Oh, yeah… Check out this sick concrete fireplace and steel thingy we made…

I saw a sweet fireplace design in a magazine the other day, and showed it to the cool people from Artista Homes.  Nice guys.  They’re Italian too hmm go figure. (lol, KIDDING)  They loved it, and we made it.  We have a few details to work out, but this piece came off very well.  This home will also feature a custom wine room, and concrete back splashes.  It’s not always about the concrete- it’s about how things relate to each other, and create  space.  Us professional design type people call this: spatial relationships.  Can I get a WOO WOOO?!!!

The vertical work done here is to mimic a poured concrete wall.  There is some honey comb, bug holes, cracking and a natural grey colour.  The steel surround is in 4 pieces and has custom 1″ square bolts.

yeah.

Here’s the latest shots of that yard sign thingy….

These hand made vertical carved rocks were stained with a water based black dye.  The dye was diluted to lessen the impact of the black and increase the translucency (actual word spelled correctly).  I’m probably going to add some rusty oxide to the rock- just to imitate the natural look found in the stone we are using in the landscape in the yard.   The top was also dyed with the same material- still on the fence as to whether or not to seal the top.  Not lovin the shiny and black idea……. it’s not south beach ya know……

At least it’s not brown….. a close source has informed me that black is the new black…. haha!…. L1050301 L1050304 L1050304 L1050304 L1050307 L1050304 L1050305 L1050305 L1050306
