We just knew this slab of concrete was going to look great on this here fireplace! Just another cool design by our designer Kim. Natural concrete with a light grind and polish and a single drop section for minimal detail. Built in our shop and installed in 10 minutes.

So, we pour these floors for some cool people in a wicked character home that just happens to be timber framed. The floors are upstairs and really play nicely with the wood features. I make these craft sale thingy’s and the lady of the house says “Those concrete blocks look great! Too bad the stairs can’t be made out of those
(polished concrete). Me: “I’ll see what I can do…”
Pretty happy with this actually

It’s always fun when you get to design the job from front to back! Here we designed the floor finishes (ground, stained and polished), information/ check out desk, washroom wall finishes and sinks, coffee shop and tables, tables and more tables!! We’re super pumped about this job- our first big adventure into polishing! Look for more and more coming your way on these exciting new finishes- we’re doing them inside and out..Yeah man!!!

I found a really cool sofa table in Luxe. magazine and changed some things around to better suit my ideas. We’re using 12×12 douglas fur which is ground with a wire wheel and sealed. The concrete blocks are in fact keys holding the wood in place. The concrete is tinted with black dye to darken it to a graphite gray colour- then polished and waxed. All bug holes are left in tact and not filled. We love the relationship the wood has with concrete in this plain simple design. This was a fun project which took a few tries to get to where we wanted. Through this, I discovered: let Phil frame and pour, I’ll draw the pictures……….. works pretty good!!
