Continuing on our theme of how cool heavy timbers look with concrete…. we developed this cool table set in the lab the other day. Very simple in design, and very functional. The options are endless with these two items ranging from colour, to stains, to finish treatments. These are a pretty cheap set that fit anywhere- and make a great gift.
And just so you know, we’ve got pretty big sleeves with lots up them so hang on to your hats folks- more lab works on the way!!!!

Last summer you may remember we had fun building these odd and round shaped pods which were to hold pictures and people would sit on them. The pods were part of the new William Street entrance at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre Hospital. These suckers are pretty much solid concrete and weigh like… lots. We poured them in the lab and delivered them on site- then coloured them with a technique I’ll be speaking about at this years World of Concrete Expo in Las Vegas.

Why not? Anything based on good design has always been what this company is about!! Solid oak 4×6″ timbers make up this frame, with 4×8″ posts and a 3x 12″ head board. We can make this twin style bed for 1750, a queen for 2000 and a king sized bed for 2250. Lots of cool options here like concrete posts or head board inserts. And by the way, there is NOTHING like working with solid wood. There is no place for veneers or laminates.

here’s what happens when we have old chunks of wood, some old bags of product, and a little too much time on our hands……

It’s always fun when you get to design the job from front to back! Here we designed the floor finishes (ground, stained and polished), information/ check out desk, washroom wall finishes and sinks, coffee shop and tables, tables and more tables!! We’re super pumped about this job- our first big adventure into polishing! Look for more and more coming your way on these exciting new finishes- we’re doing them inside and out..Yeah man!!!
