what are wood tables doing on a concrete blog?

I found a really cool sofa table in Luxe. magazine and changed some things around to better suit my ideas.  We’re using 12×12 douglas fur which is ground with a wire wheel and sealed.  The concrete blocks are in fact keys holding the wood in place.  The concrete is tinted with black dye to darken it to a graphite gray colour- then polished and waxed.  All bug holes are left in tact and not filled.  We love the relationship the wood has with concrete in this plain simple design.  This was a fun project which took a few tries to get to where we wanted.  Through this, I discovered: let Phil frame  and pour, I’ll draw the pictures……….. works pretty good!!

A raised fire pit you can’t buy at Walmart.

Our kick ass r and d team developed this killer raised fire pit.  It is designed to run jelfuel tins and produce a 7″ flame for 3 hours.  Imagine, drop in a match and sit and enjoy a fire, conversation- perhaps a drink- and when done? Pop the lid back on the tin, or just walk away.  No mess, no fuss.  (man I hate that cliche line)  We have another style coming as well- as well as more ideas that will blow the doors off……..well, it’ll be cool.

Being in the show was a total blast with my buddies from my construction supply house Brock White.  Got to see a lot of great people, talk about some fabulous projects- and made some new friends along the way….Sounds like win win.  This year we had an interesting indoor/outdoor theme with a concrete table, concrete chair, concrete vases- and a water wall designed and built by our very own Randy Mac Klassen ( inspired by his hot girlfriend Alannah…….hot meaning cool, er…..never mind, she’s real nice)  Any who…..What could have been a dull boring mess of blah was given life and colour by the fun kids over at 2e- thanks you. Also, give us a call if you had any unanswered questions or comments you wanted to make- sorry if we missed you! Oh, and sorry about the music, we’re working on a new dance party mix for the 010 homeshow- if they’ll let us back in…..
