These hand made vertical carved rocks were stained with a water based black dye. The dye was diluted to lessen the impact of the black and increase the translucency (actual word spelled correctly). I’m probably going to add some rusty oxide to the rock- just to imitate the natural look found in the stone we are using in the landscape in the yard. The top was also dyed with the same material- still on the fence as to whether or not to seal the top. Not lovin the shiny and black idea……. it’s not south beach ya know……
At least it’s not brown….. a close source has informed me that black is the new black…. haha!….[flickr]photo:4419402072[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402742[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402742[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402742[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419403476[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402742[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402992[/flickr][flickr]photo:4419402992[/flickr][flickr]photo:4418636853[/flickr]

Some cool clients we’ve done work for over the years asked us to come up with an interesting yard sign for them. They found a stunning piece of granite they loved and wanted to fit it into the use of a yard sign. Never one to be traditional…..the signage will be made out of red dragon granite and have their house number blasted into it. Obviously it will fill the hole in the middle of the sign- duhhh
. Any ways, the sign incorporates some interesting carved vertical rock- that has yet to be stained, it features a concrete top, and 2-12×12 timbers on the end which are bolted on and strapped with a steel banding as well
This sign can be found on one of the most historic scenic roads in St Andrews. Check it out once it drops in the next couple weeks
Note: ITS NOT DONE YET!!!!!
haha

We’re well under way with this sick yard sign- that has elements of vertical carved concrete, a 6″ concrete top, 2- 12×12 timbers strapped together, and a giant sandblasted slab of red dragon granite. Check out the finished work once it’s posted, it’s going to be crazy stuff!![flickr]photo:4381059816[/flickr][flickr]photo:4381060204[/flickr][flickr]photo:4381060572[/flickr][flickr]photo:4381356076[/flickr]

Ok, ok. Before you start blowing a gasket…..We dug these drives 3 times as deep as normal to put a super well compacted base in. Then, ran heat pipes that were tied on to the reinforcing steel. The slabs had heated water and sand and a heated base and internal system. Once finished, covered with poly and insulated tarps to keep the heat in. Monitored over the weekend, the slabs never cooled below 12 celsius. We then cut the drives into 4 foot blocks, and sandblasted the surface for affect. Even in summer, we have never had a job run so smooth and perfect before![flickr]photo:4167934850[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167173413[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167935174[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167174481[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167174809[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167175115[/flickr][flickr]photo:4167175449[/flickr]

nothing like looking after people from start to finish! This yard was mangled by all the pool construction and weather that went along with it. I’ll find the before pics and show you the difference. I’m just cleaning out my memory card
